How often should I get a dental checkup?

Most patients should visit every 6 months for a checkup and cleaning. If you have gum disease, diabetes, or are undergoing orthodontic treatment, we may recommend more frequent visits.

Does professional cleaning damage tooth enamel?

No. Professional scaling removes plaque and tartar from the tooth surface without harming enamel. Any temporary sensitivity afterward usually settles within a day or two.
